Av is the fifth month in the biblical Hebrew calendar and its the eleventh month on the civic calendar. Five meaning Grace with the number eleven representing confusion and chaos!

Many Jews and rabbis believe this is a cursed month as in the book of Numbers chapter 13 we see the 12 spies heading out to spy out the promised land for forty days and ten came back saying yes, it's good and the land is filled with much milk and honey and flows with figs and much grapes and pomegranates, but we are as grasshoppers to the people there for they are much stronger and bigger than we are.  The cities are with great walls and giants    and therefore brought an evil report back to the camp. Chapter 14 says the ten spies who went up with Caleeb and Joshua were able to turn the hearts of Israel from wanting to go into the promised land as they inflicted such a great fear the Bible says the people didn't rest but cried and wept the entire night. This is a month where we will have to discern the voice we listen to as the ten were able to see the abundance of the fruit in the land but were too afraid to possess it, and Joshua and Caleeb had to encourage the people not to rebel against God but to believe that the Lord had taken delight in them.

In this season do not align yourselves with the doubters and the naysayers but follow the plans of the Lord. Listening to the wrong voice can cause pain and suffering, while listening to the voice of the Lord will bring Grace upon Grace!
